The Communications Officer

Who shall be a member of the executive committee and a member of the Trustee Board of the Union, if over the age of 18; shall:

  1. Be jointly responsible, with the President, for co-ordinating a communications strategy to promote the Students’ Union
  2. In conjunction with the Publicities Officer, be jointly responsible, with the President,  for organising an student newspaper group and encouraging all students to contribute and participate in it
  3. To ensure articles are written on issues that are highlighted on the Student Union Executive Committee and Student Parliament
  4. In conjunction with the Publicities Officer, for organising a student website group and encouraging all students to participate in it
  5. Establish and maintain contact with other student media in other students’ unions across the country and locally based media organisations
  6. Attend relevant conferences on behalf of the Students’ Union
  7. Present relevant reports to the Student’ Union Executive Committee and give weekly updates to the President
  8. Carry out other duties as laid down by the Executive Committee and Student Parliament
  9. Be a member of Student Parliament and present relevant reports
  10. Act reasonably and prudently in all matters, and in the best interests of the union
