The Deputy President

who shall be a member of the executive committee, shall, under the direction of the trustee board:

  1. regulate expenditure of the union in such a way as to maximise union activities
  2. In conjunction with the Vice President, Activities and Community be responsible for the gathering of information on discounts and promoting these to students
  3. be responsible for petty cash, and present a record of petty cash transactions to each executive committee meeting
  4. present relevant reports to the executive committee
  5. be a signatory to the union account, if over the age 18
  6. in conjunction with the president, ensure that all financial transactions are legitimate, and the necessary paper work and receipts are kept for all transactions
  7. in conjunction with the student activities officer, allocate grants to clubs and societies and monitor their expenditure
  8. provide guidelines to all budget holders on financial control and planning
  9. carry out other duties as laid down by the executive committee and Student Parliament.
  10. be a member of Student Parliament, and present relevant reports
  11. In conjunction with the Media Officer produce a student newspaper and internet site
  12. Attend Health & Safety Committee on behalf of the Student Union
  13. In conjunction with the Vice President, Activities and Community  arrange a Freshers fair at the beginning of the academic year and a refresher’s fair in January
  14. In conjunction with the Vice President, Activities and Community and the Events Officer facilitate a Entertainments Involvement Group
  15. Shall be responsible for finding students who will act as “panel members” in relation to appeals on the Academic, Disciplinary or Educational Maintenance Allowance procedures.
  16. Shall give weekly updates to the President on the business of the Education Officers, the Vice President Welfare, the Vice President Equality and Diversity and the Vice President, Activities and Community
  17. in conjunction with the Further Education Officer and the Higher Education Officer be responsible for dealing with higher education students’ and further education students’ concerns, aspirations and problems in relation to their courses
  18. In conjunction with the President arrange training for course representatives in conjunction with the President and NUS
  19. In conjunction with the president meet with departmental heads to develop and maintain a system for the election of course reps
  20. Act reasonably and prudently in all matters, and in the best interests of the union
