The Higher Education Officer
Who shall be a member of the executive committee and a member of the Trustee Board of the Union, if over the age of 18; shall:
- in conjunction with the president and deputy president be responsible for dealing with higher education students’ concerns, aspirations and problems in relation to their courses
- liaise with the Higher Education Governor of the Colleges Corporation Board, on any matters arising which relate Further Education in the College
- liaise with the welfare officers on the development of the union’s welfare strategy within the college
- in conjunction with the welfare officers meet with the college for the purposes of monitoring and review of the student charter, complaints, equal opportunities and disciplinary procedures
- meet with departmental heads to develop and maintain a system for the election of course reps
- maintain contact with course representatives over the year and represent their views and concerns to the college through the academic board and other appropriate forums
- be a member of the academic board and any other relevant bodies established by the college
- present relevant reports to the Executive Committee and produce weekly updates to the Deputy President
- carry out other duties as laid down by the Executive Committee and Student Parliament
- be a member of Student Parliament, and present relevant reports
- act reasonably and prudently in all matters, and in the best interests of the Students’ Union
- Establish a number of projects relatingto the Higher Education students’ education, welfare and social needs at the beginningof the year, as agreed by the Executive Committee.
