the Vice President of Equality & Diversity
Who shall be a member of the executive committee and a member of the Trustee Board of the Union, if over the age of 18; shall:
- In conjunction with the Deputy President, give support to the LGBT Students’ Officer, the BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) Students’ Officer and the Disabled Students’ Officer in their relevant areas of work
- To request updates from the relevant officers on their weekly business (LGBT Students’ Officer, the BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) Students’ Officer and the Disabled Students’ Officer)
- Ensure that Student Parliament is represented at all NUS Liberation Campaign Conferences
- In conjunction with the LGBT Students’ Officer, the Disabled Students’ Officer and BAME Students’ Officer monitor City College Norwich’s provision for LGBT students, Disabled students and BAME students and bring failings in this provision to the attention of the Students’ Union and the College
- In conjunction with the Disabled Students’ Officer provide disabled students with perspective on all matters concerning the Students’ Union and the College, and ensure there is a regular forum where disabled students can meet
- In conjunction with the BAME Students’ Officer liaise with the NUS Black Students campaign
- Promote the positive involvement of BAME students in all areas of the Students’ Union’s activities
- present relevant reports to the Executive Committee and give weekly updates to the President and Deputy President
- carry out other duties as laid down by the Executive Committee and Student Parliament
- be a member of Student Parliament, and present relevant reports
- act reasonably and prudently in all matters, and in the best interests of the Students’ Union
- Establish a number of projects relating to equality and diversity at the beginningof the year, as agreed by the Executive Committee.
