The Vice President of Welfare
Who shall be a member of the executive committee and a member of the Trustee Board of the Union, if over the age of 18; shall:
- In conjunction with the Deputy President, give support to the Woman’s’ Welfare Officer, Mans Welfare Officer, the International Students’ Officer and the Mature Students’ Officer in their relevant areas of work
- To request updates from the relevant officers on their weekly business (Woman’s’ Welfare Officer, Mans Welfare Officer, the International Students’ Officer and the Mature Students’ Officer)
- Liaise with relevant College staff, such as the Enrichment Co-ordinator, in order to assist in the maintenance and development of the College’s Enrichment programme
- Liaise with relevant College personnel over the criteria and distribution of the access and hardship funds
- Attend any relevant training/briefing days for the Union Welfare Officers
- Liaise with the Welfare Officers and the Education Officers on the College Welfare Strategy
- When necessary, refer students to the College counsellors or other relevant organisations
- In conjunction with the Woman’s Welfare Officer and the Mans Welfare Officer, meet with the Student Support Services and when necessary College Management to assure the quality of services provided by the College to students
- In conjunction with the Mature Students’ Officer provide a perspective on issues which affect mature students to the executive committee, and ensure it is recognised in all of the unions work.
- In conjunction with the International Students’ Officer, liaise with the NUS International Students campaign
- Establish and maintain contact with, and provide information from, groups and organisations which work on international student issues
- Ensure that Student Parliament is represented at all NUS Liberation Campaign Conferences
- present relevant reports to the Executive Committee and give weekly updates to the President and the Deputy President
- carry out other duties as laid down by the Executive Committee and Student Parliament
- be a member of Student Parliament, and present relevant reports
- act reasonably and prudently in all matters, and in the best interests of the Students’ Union
- Establish a number of projects relating to welfare of students at the beginningof the year, as agreed by the Executive Committee.
